Now this is a fantastic holiday tradition – the 12th annual Hubble Space Telescope Advent Calendar! I’d love to learn more about astrophotography. I might have to make that a resolution for 2020. Here are a few sky shots I’ve made over the years, though nothing like Hubble, of course! There’s a dark sky reserve in Idaho, not too far from where I live, but my favorite place for skygazing is southeastern Oregon’s desert country where there are more antelope than people for vast stretches. I tried to capture the star trails on a Thanksgiving vacation to Wisconsin last year, but there was quite a bit of light pollution. I also love photographing clouds. Did you know that there’s actually a Cloud Appreciation Society?
