Honoring Nature

Today, in honor of #optoutside, here’s a look at winning photography announced recently, including winners of the British Ecological Society photography competition just revealed yesterday — incredible images made by ecologists and students. In October, Wildlife of Photographer of the Year announced its winners. Congrats to all! Ecological awareness is an important key to the future healing and success of our planet.

Mesmerizing wildlife photos capture nature’s wonders

A tree boa perches in a tree under the cover of night. A three-toed (CNN) – sloth crouches at the side of a wet road in Costa Rica, having narrowly made it across safely. A Madagascan scorpion glows curiously under UV light, and a flock of flamingos scatter over a Lake Magadi, Kenya.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year winners showcase stunning scenes from nature

(CNN) – It could almost be a scene from a slapstick comedy: a marmot stands frozen in fear, slack-jawed and balanced on one foot, as it suddenly notices a charging fox. The dramatic image, captured with perfect timing by Chinese photographer Yongqing Bao, has won the prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year award, given out annually by London’s Natural History Museum.
