Angela Bucaro: Travel-Inspired Art — No Boundaries!

I arrived in Montreal after a long ordeal involving missed flights in Florence and Rome, a train ride to Milan, a bus trip to the wrong airport, a very expensive taxi ride to the correct airport, a night sleeping on the floor of the Milan airport after begging a security guard to open the doors after midnight, being held in customs at the Gatwick airport in London because I didn’t yet have a paper copy of my ticket from London to Canada and a phone that died right when I walked up to the ticket desk, a long bus ride to Heathrow…..and finally, a taxi trip in Montreal with a driver who seemed utterly lost, spoke only French and asked me to pull up my destination on Google maps and tell him where to go.

As you can imagine, I was a little woozy by the time I got to the reception and exhibition of Italian photographer Luca Bracali’s work. Loaded down with luggage, I shuffled into the meeting hall and sat down, a bit dazed and looking like a disheveled stray. A kind hostess immediately offered me a glass of wine. On the second or third sip, something like a spirit lifted my glass out of my hand and tossed red wine all over a woman I’d just met who, as it turned out, was award-winning Montreal artist Angela Bucaro. It was one of the most embarrassing moments of my life.

But Angela handled the awkward situation with humor and grace and since then we’ve enjoyed getting to know one another.

“My inspiration is a combination of my Italian/Canadian heritage as well as my career as a successful fashion designer. My paintings are embroidered with reflection of having lived overseas in places like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Mali and Nigeria as well as my travels to countries around the world.”

–Angela Bucaro
“Painting is exciting because there are no boundaries”

I’m pleased to share her travel-inspired paintings here. Angela’s art, much like her personality, vibrates with energy, strength, beauty, a sense of daring & adventure and a life force that is difficult to express in words. Thank you to Angela for sending me a gallery of her paintings to share! She has an upcoming exhibition at the Le Musée des beaux-arts de Mont-Saint-Hilaire, dates pending. Contact her via her website to be apprised of upcoming shows.
