Amy Sacka is a brilliant photographer based in Detroit, Michigan USA. I met her at a Magnum Photos workshop in San Francisco and interviewed her recently for LensCulture. I’m pleased to announce the piece will go live on the site this Saturday, May 6. I know you’ll enjoy learning more about her and her work — and her stunning and heartfelt documentation of her home city.
Detroit has a complex history going back to the beginning. And this June marks the 50th anniversary of the deadly 1967 Detroit riots. The city has been largely portrayed in recent years as one plagued by abandonment and loss. Amy is dedicated to showing the world a different side — vibrant and alive and real — and one she knows intimately well.
Stop by LensCulture Saturday. Meanwhile, see more of Amy’s stunning work here: http://www.amysackaphotography.com/
